  • Nicole Guessford, LCSW

    Nicole has worked in the mental health field for over 23 years in various settings including the hospital setting , in home services, community mental health and private practice. Additionally , Nicole has successfully worked in the school system for over 20 years helping to bridge the gap between mental health services and the public education system. She has provided therapy services and behavioral support services to children and families in Montgomery , Delaware and Philadelphia counties as a School Social Worker and has helped many children be able to stay in the public school setting even when their behavioral and emotional needs impede their learning by providing support to children, adolescents and families while also serving as a support to school staff.

    In the private practice setting , Nicole believes in treating the “whole” person and includes modalities to help support the mental , emotional, physical and spiritual parts of the body to help bring balance and healing into their life. Nicole treats children, adolescents , young adults and adults. She has a special interest in trauma, anxiety, depression, behavior issues in children , domestic violence, and women’s issues. Nicole has extensive experience supporting and helping families who have children with PANDAS/PANS.

    Nicole believes that healing comes through creating a safe, empathic and nurturing space to talk about and express their feelings. Utilizing a variety of techniques and interventions tailored to a clients needs , Nicole is trauma focused , strengths based and solution focused. She believes in helping her clients recognize and celebrate their strengths to improve their mindset and everyday life. Nicole uses mindfulness and somatic techniques to help clients cope between sessions and utilizes motivational interviewing, narrative therapy techniques and cognitive behavioral techniques during sessions to help manage stress, depression, trauma and life issues.

    Nicole graduated from the University of Delaware with a BA in Psychology and from Bryn Mawr College with a Master in Social Service. Nicole has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2005.
