Alison Strozier, LCSW

Ali is a licensed clinical social worker with over 6 years of experience. She obtained her masters of social work in 2018 at the University of Pennsylvania and has been working in the Philadelphia region ever since. Ali's wide array of jobs since graduation has deepened her understanding of clinical practice across a spectrum of needs. She has worked in a general mental health clinic, a methadone clinic, an inpatient drug rehabilitation program, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and various public and charter schools as a social worker. Ali's specializations include treating substance use disorders and working with children and families, particularly children who experience ASD. As a queer identified cis female and a parent, Ali's lived experiences also give her insights into these particular issues. But mostly, specializations do not drive her work - Ali is most at home when working with a wide variety of people.

Ali utilizes a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies in her work. She completed one year of relational training at the Institute of Relational Psychoanalysis of Philadelphia and incorporates relational ideology in her therapeutic interactions. She is also heavily influenced by the humanistic approach of Carl Rogers, which in turn trickled into the core components involved in Motivational Interviewing, a modality she frequently uses. Ali also uses interventions from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist clients in recognizing and managing problematic thoughts and patterns. Lastly, Ali's training as a social worker means that she is always looking outside of the individual and addressing the broader, systemic issues in the room - racism, poverty, classism, ableism, sexism, etc.

It is a privilege and an honor to walk through a person's perspective. It is Ali's sincerest hope that she does so with warmth, empathy, and humor along the way
