Chris Nguyen, LSW
Chris is a California native who now calls Philadelphia his beloved home. Chris is a licensed social worker who currently works with families and children who have serious mental illness. Chris earned his Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz. After this, Chris spent some time working in residential treatment centers and rehabilitation medical facilities where he was able to practice harm-reduction care and led DBT/CBT-informed groups. Gaining some experience, Chris moved to Philadelphia to pursue graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania; earning his Masters of Social Work with the distinction of being a School of Social Policy and Practice Dean’s Award Scholar. All of this demonstrates that Chris aims to be an expert on how to serve others.
Chris prides himself on creating bonds with individuals, as he believes true connection makes therapy truly worthwhile and successful. Have you asked yourself these questions; Is therapy right for me? How can I change specific things in my life? What can I do to become the best version of myself? Chris has spent years pondering these questions, allowing himself to grapple with the same complex thoughts as his clients. Now armed with the clinical knowledge to serve and benefit others Chris believes that therapy is a collaborative journey.

Chris’ therapeutic modalities stem from a strength-based approach and client-centered care. Chris primarily uses psychodynamic, mindfulness, and attachment-based therapy. Chris prioritizes comfort, honesty, and safety in his sessions. Additionally, Chris’ knowledge base as a social worker has him constantly prioritizing social determinants while working with clients.
