Ivy Goldstein, LPC
Ivy's approach is warm and collaborative; she is interested in your perspective, feelings, and narratives, while also able to give supportive feedback and new perspectives that may help you get unstuck, see things in a new way, or feel acknowledged and validated.
Ivy works especially well with clients who are working through issues of identity; who identify as expressive, artistic and sensitive; who have experienced ostracism or shame; who want to understand or develop a different relationship to anger; and who are interested in existential questions and want to explore their curiosity about meaning in their own life.
Clients who are interested in in-depth therapy that not only addresses behavior but also explores attachment, childhood, and relationships and how these affect each other and intersect, will be especially suited to working with Ivy. Ivy believes that behaviors are best explored by finding where they originated and what role they are serving, rather than just seeking to eliminate them.
Ivy has been in practice since 2019 and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is currently engaged in advanced training in Relational Psychoanalysis, which involves illuminating unconscious drives and how family and history affects relationships. This approach is collaborative and relational, and is different from traditional, "blank-slate" psychoanalysis. Ivy also has training in EMDR, and is interested in IFS, or "parts work", which seeks to understand a person's various parts and how these interact with the world. Ivy also deeply appreciates artistic expression and is happy to engage with clients' artistic work and creativity as much as possible.
