Matthew Shive, LPC
Matthew Shive (he/him/his) is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Matt earned his Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Matt has experience working in outpatient, intensive outpatient, school, and family-based settings. Matt has experience with individuals who are looking to address major life transitions, grief and loss, symptoms of depression and anxiety, and addiction.
Matt provides a dedicated, calming, and relaxed presence to his therapy approach. Matt believes that building trust within a therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect in fostering a meaningful connection where someone can ease into whatever they hope to achieve. Matt employs the theory of Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy, a therapy within Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Matt believes that this approach provides empowerment to an individual, regardless of experience. This approach allows someone to take autonomy over their experiences rather than their experiences taking autonomy over them. In addition to this, Matt also uses tenants of holistic therapy which focuses on the use of a person’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being as a whole to utilize any and all strengths that can build towards true fulfillment in life.
