Shelby Statham, LSW
Shelby (she/her) specializes in trauma, LGBTQ+ identity-affirming care, bipolar disorder, anger management, anxiety, and depression. Shelby helps clients explore the ways early childhood experiences shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us, while also focusing on practical strategies to manage current life stressors. She recognizes that our internal well-being is deeply impacted by forces in our external social environment, such as structural inequality and community/social conditions. She aims to co-create a therapeutic space that is grounded in nonjudgement, gentleness, humor, and collaboration while working toward developing a sense of meaning and satisfaction in life. Shelby is a Licensed Social Worker with a degree from Bryn Mawr College of Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. She has experience working in rape crisis centers, emergency psychiatric hospitals, as well as supporting individuals who have experienced and/or caused harm in intimate partner relationships. She provides eclectic psychotherapy adapted to the unique lived experience of each individual. Her work is primarily grounded in relational and attachment-based practices, but also incorporates aspects of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
