Thomas Guidice, LMFT

Thomas is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has worked with individuals, couples and families for 17 years. What allows therapy to work is first and foremost, the trusting therapeutic relationship that is made between therapist and client. Thomas believes that it is vital that the client experience the therapist as genuine and skilled and that the therapist is able to engage and connect deeply with the client on a person-to-person level.

This is a second career for Thomas; he worked for the City of Philadelphia in the Court System as an Official Court Reporter for 40 years. During those many years, he saw firsthand how culture, environment, and families played a pivotal role in problematic decision making. Thomas wanted to understand if there were ways to help individuals within these emotional family systems to improve their dynamics and ultimately resolve their interactions with each other.

Thomas attended night school while working in his first career and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Saint Joseph's University and his Masters degree in Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from LaSalle University.

Thomas works with individuals, couples, and families. With individuals, Thomas utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral approach, which focuses on modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts by interrogating and uprooting negative or irrational beliefs.

With couples, Thomas employs an Emotionally Focused approach, which regards the security of the partner connection as foundational, allowing for a mutually supportive and satisfying relationship through emotional responsiveness.

In counseling families, Thomas uses both Structural Family Therapy, which addresses how family members relate to one another, and Contextual Therapy, which emphasizes fairness and accountability among family members.
