Maya Nelson, LSW.

Maya Nelson is a Licensed Social Worker who has a devotion to servicing the diverse community in the mental health field. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with an emphasis in child welfare from Andrews University. She later received her Masters of Social Work with a specialization in Criminal Justice from the University of Pennsylvania. Maya has received additional certifications in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Maya has worked with a variety of populations and a wide range of ages, from adolescents to older adults. Her experience has focused on developing and implementing treatment plans for individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and other serious mental illness, as well as facilitating conflict resolution and effective communication. In addition, Maya has substantial experience working within the criminal justice system and providing specialized support for clients navigating the complexities of these unique challenges. She understands the challenges of life transitions and stressors and is committed to supporting clients on their therapeutic journey. Maya fosters a safe environment to facilitate personal growth, accomplish goals, and build permanent confidence to maintain positive change.
