Raechel Stillwell, LAC
Therapist
Raechel Stillwell is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor with experience providing psychotherapy services to individuals and couples of various ages and backgrounds. She graduated from La Salle University with a Master of Arts degree in Professional Clinical Counseling. Her graduate training and post-degree work has prepared her work with individuals age 18 and up presenting with an array of symptoms related to anxiety, depression, emotion regulation difficulties, ADHD, grief, life transitions, interpersonal issues, and low self-esteem. She also has experience working with couples struggling with communication, connection, and adjustment to life transitions or difficult experiences.
Raechel’s style of therapy emphasizes client directed change. She takes the time to get to know her clients so that she can better help them to see how recurring thoughts, emotions, beliefs, or behaviors might be getting in the way of them living out their goals or values. In sessions, she likes to explore both the present and the past to better understand how clients developed some of the core beliefs they might be holding onto in their day to day lives.
When clients are ready to make changes, Raechel leans on a cognitive approach, pulling from frameworks such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. These techniques help clients to broaden their beliefs, respond to negative self-talk, create new habits, work through interpersonal difficulties, and regulate their emotions. Raechel doesn’t approach therapy with a one size fits all mentality—she tailors treatment to her client’s needs and is always ready to modify treatment techniques or interventions to better help her clients.
Prior to working as a psychotherapist, Raechel spent several years gaining experience in psychological research. She obtained a master’s degree in psychology and worked as a data analyst for a training and education organization focused on improving mental health treatment for military servicemembers and veterans. Through both experiences, Raechel learned the importance of research and training in providing adequate and evidence-based care for clients. She strives to incorporate this approach in her work while also recognizing the bounds of her expertise.
